Napsters impact on the music industry

Napster was launched by Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning in 1999. The founders were aged 17 and 18 respectively and their idea of peer to peer file sharing revolutionized the music industry. Prior to napster, people could only consume music by buying hard copys such as a CD's, cassettes, recording off a radio or sending records to friends and others. However, Napster enabled users to download music for free!
